The Mechanicsburg Fire Department would like to introduce Wagon 29 and Tower 29. While these two pieces of apparatus are the “same old firetrucks” that everyone is used to seeing, they now have new names thanks to a multi-county effort to more accurately identify apparatus through standardized unit designations. Structure Box in the Borough
03-28-2026 1652hrs Company 29 was dispatched to the 29-01 box for a residential structure fire. Squad and Tower 29 made the response. Squad 29 arrived, securing its own water supply and advancing a hose line. Crews were faced with a smoke condition within the home which was traced back to a furnace malfunction. Mechanicsburg Firefighters operated on scene for just over half an hour.

Squad & Tower on a Hampden House Fire
03-24-2026 2038hrs During our weekly training, Company 29 was dispatched to the 30-01 box for a residential structure fire. Squad and Tower 29 made the response. Company 29 arrived and worked to vertically ventilate the structure. Once the fire was brought under control, MFD firefighters assisted with miscellaneous overhaul tasks. Mechanicsburg Volunteer Firefighters operated on scene for 2 hours.

House Fire, Pickleball, and Storms
Sunday's crew of firefighters spent the day working and playing hard. At 1326hrs, Squad 29 responded to the 236-03 box for a residential structure fire. MFD firefighters were on the scene for almost 2 hours. Firefighters then took advantage of the nice weather with some pickleball and a crew dinner. The day was wrapped up with a storm response in the 29-03 box for a commercial structure with wind damage.
